Paprika is a 1991 Italian film directed by Tinto Brass. The film is loosely based on John Cleland's novel Fanny Hill, first published in 1748.

PLOT:

In 1958, very nearly the Merlin Law that makes whorehouses illicit, Mimma (Debora Caprioglio), a youthful farm girl, comes to town and chooses to fill in as a whore to help her life partner get the means to go into business, and is given the name Paprika at Madame Collette's (Martine Brochard) house. When her life partner double-crosses her, Mimma surrenders her unique aspirations and chooses to seek after a vocation as a whore. All the while, she loses any self-awareness certainty and sense of pride, yet ultimately she tracks down reclamation, riches, and her one genuine affection.
